The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some phenomenal youngsters mesmerising the cricket fraternity with their remarkable skill sets.
One of the best things about IPL 2025 is that most teams have relied on young players instead of being overly dependent on overseas stars. Indian fans can rest assured that the national team's future is bright, with so many budding talents proving that they belong at this level.
Each of the 10 teams has unearthed at least one uncapped talent who can serve them for many years to come. In this article, CricTracker looks at three highly skilled uncapped Indian players in the edition.
Three highly-skilled uncapped Indian players in IPL 2025: 3. Vipraj NigamVipraj Nigam made his IPL debut this season with Delhi Capitals. India has produced many finger spinners who can bat; however, not too many wrist spinners with batting capabilities have come through the ranks. Rahul Tewatia comes to mind, but he has largely stopped bowling in recent years, especially in the IPL. In international cricket, the likes of Rashid Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga have excelled in both facets of the game.
Nigam, 20, played 13 matches, picking up nine wickets at an average of 35.33 and an economy rate of 9.09. With the bat, he scored 142 runs at a strike rate of 179.75. The Uttar Pradesh cricketer has the potential to represent India for several years because of his all-round skills. His control with the ball is exemplary, and he appears to thrive in pressure situations with the bat. Nigam is also a solid fielder, and his catch to dismiss Will Jacks in Delhi’s game against the Mumbai Indians on 21 May highlights this strength.
2. Nehal WadheraNehal Wadhera made his debut for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. Ahead of this season, he was roped in by the Punjab Kings. The southpaw has played some brilliant knocks for the Shreyas Iyer-led franchise. In 10 innings, he has scored 280 runs at an average of 35 and a strike rate of 157.31.
Wadhera can bludgeon good deliveries for boundaries and manoeuvre his game according to match situations. He is someone who not only targets the leg side but can also clear the ropes on the off side. Wadhera is equally adept at playing both pace and spin. His highest score of 70 off 37 balls came against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The 24-year-old will look to play a significant role in Punjab’s upcoming matches as they aim to win their first IPL title.
1. Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Rajasthan Royals signed the Bihar-based batter, , during the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 1.10 crore. He became the youngest batter to earn an IPL contract, being just 13 years old at the time of the auction. Most fans expected the southpaw to hone his skills on the sidelines during the season without getting too many games.
However, he ended up playing half the matches in the league phase. In seven games, he amassed 252 runs at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.56. Suryavanshi made his debut against Lucknow Super Giants, scoring a quickfire 34 off 20 balls and getting off the mark with a six. His standout performance came against the Gujarat Titans, where he smashed a magnificent century off just 35 balls in Jaipur.
