Etihad Airways will introduce its next-generation Airbus A321LR aircraft on the Kolkata–Abu Dhabi route starting September 26, 2025, offering passengers an upgraded in-flight experience across all cabin classes, as per the official statement from the airlines.

The A321LR will operate all flights between Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU), replacing the existing aircraft on the route. The move is part of Etihad’s strategy to strengthen its presence in India and improve passenger experience with advanced onboard features.

The A321LR is equipped with First Class Suites, fully lie-flat Business Class seats, and next-generation Economy seating. The aircraft offers 4K seatback touchscreens, high-speed WiFi, and enhanced space and privacy across the cabin. The First Suites are arranged in a 1-1 configuration with forward-facing fully-flat beds. Business Class will offer 14 lie-flat seats tailored for comfort on medium-haul journeys, while the Economy cabin features upgraded in-flight entertainment and connectivity options.

“India is a key market for Etihad, and we are delighted to elevate our Kolkata service with our latest A321LR aircraft. With this upgrade, our guests can now enjoy a superior travel experience, whether in our luxurious First Suites, Business Class lie-flat seats, or next-generation Economy cabin. This investment underlines our ongoing commitment to providing world-class service and greater connectivity across the Indian subcontinent,” Arik De, Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, said in an official statement.

The airline aims to bring wide-body comfort to a single-aisle aircraft through this deployment. With improved fuel efficiency and passenger amenities, the A321LR is designed to cater to evolving travel expectations.

Etihad’s latest investment underscores its long-term commitment to the Indian aviation market. The airline currently operates services to several Indian cities and continues to offer passengers better connectivity to its global network through its Abu Dhabi hub.
