Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla have long been celebrated as one of Bollywood’s most enduring and admired screen pairs. Together, they created cinematic magic in several memorable films such as Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Darr, and Yes Boss, among others.
Their chemistry on screen struck a perfect balance of charm, humor, and emotion, making them one of the most beloved duos of the 1990s. Off-screen, their camaraderie blossomed into a genuine and lasting friendship that continues to this day, built on mutual admiration, respect, and years of shared experiences in the film industry.
As Shah Rukh Khan marked his milestone 60th birthday, Juhi Chawla fondly reflected on his exceptional ability to persuade people and his unwavering commitment to his craft. She described him as someone who could effortlessly use his eloquence and charm to convince anyone to see things from his perspective.
Recalling one such moment, Juhi mentioned that she had initially been hesitant to take on a role in Duplicate because she felt her character didn’t have much scope. However, during the shoot of another film, Shah Rukh took the time to sit beside her on the steps and spoke to her with such conviction and enthusiasm for nearly two hours that she eventually agreed to do the project. His words, she said, have a rare power to influence, and once he sets his mind on persuading someone, it’s nearly impossible to resist.
"He has a way with words and can convince you to do anything. I remember being unsure about Duplicate because I had nothing much to do in it. We were shooting another film, and I remember SRK making me sit on the steps and convincing me for two hours that I should sign the film. He can convince you to do anything, so one has to be careful," she said.
Beyond the silver screen, Juhi and Shah Rukh’s partnership extended into entrepreneurship and sports. Along with Juhi’s husband, Jay Mehta, they co-own the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, blending their star power with business acumen and a shared passion for cricket. Their association reflects a deep professional trust that goes well beyond films, evolving into a strong and enduring bond over the decades.
Juhi’s loyalty toward Shah Rukh has also been evident in personal matters. During the difficult time when Shah Rukh’s son, Aryan Khan, was embroiled in a legal case, Juhi stepped forward to stand as his guarantor and signed a Rs 1 lakh bond at the Mumbai sessions court. Her gesture highlighted not only their friendship but also the faith and solidarity that have defined their relationship for more than three decades.
