Ashtami Bhog Recipe: The eighth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri. Goddess Mahagauri is said to be the goddess of purity, gentleness, and radiance. It is believed that if you wish to please any form of Goddess Durga, you should offer her her favorite food. Now that it is Durga Ashtami, worship her with her favorite dish.

Offering coconut to Goddess Mahagauri is considered auspicious. Therefore, you can offer her laddus made from coconut. Coconut laddus are not only sweet in taste, but their sweetness and aroma further sanctify the atmosphere of the puja. This offering is also distributed as prasad after the puja, bringing good fortune to the devotees. So, let us show you the easy method of making coconut laddus.
Ingredients for Coconut Laddoo
Freshly grated coconut – 2 cups
Khoya
Sugar – 1 cup
Ghee – 2 tablespoons
Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Chopped nuts – 2 tablespoons
Method
To make coconut ladoo, first heat ghee in a pan. Once the ghee is hot, add the grated coconut and lightly fry it over medium heat until it becomes fragrant. Keep stirring, otherwise the coconut may burn. Once it is fried, turn off the heat and set it aside. Then fry the khoya in the same manner.
Meanwhile, in another vessel, dissolve sugar in water to make a thick syrup. When the syrup thickens, add the coconut powder and khoya. Meanwhile, mix in the cardamom powder. Add the chopped dry fruits along with the cardamom powder.
Mix everything thoroughly and let it sit for a while. Let the mixture cool slightly to avoid burning your hands. Now form small laddus from the mixture.

If desired, you can sprinkle coconut powder on top. This will enhance the flavor of the laddus. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container. Coconut laddus are perfect for puja and serving to guests. You can also offer them to Goddess Mahagauri.
