Sawan Shivratri 2025: Sawan Shivratri is on 23rd July. This festival has special significance in Hinduism. According to the Vedic calendar, Shivratri is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month. Sawan Chaturdashi date will start on 24th July at 04:38 am, which will end on 24th July at 02:29 am. In such a situation, the festival of Shivratri of Sawan month will be celebrated on 23rd July.
Importance of Sawan Shivratri
According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Shivratri is celebrated every month, but the Shivratri falling in the month of Sawan has special significance, while the Shivratri of the month of Falgun is celebrated as Mahashivratri. Fasting, worshiping, and anointing Lord Shiva on the day of Sawan month's Shivratri is considered very auspicious. According to mythological beliefs, Mahadev appeared in the form of Shivling on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha. Since then, the Chaturdashi day of Krishna Paksha of every month has been considered especially fruitful for the worship of Lord Shiva. To please Lord Shiva, devotees pray for happiness and prosperity by performing Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek, Dudhbhishek, and anointing Bholenath with Panchamrit on this day.

According to the Panchang, the time of Bhadra will start from 5:36 am on July 23 and will last till 3:32 pm. But on this day, Bhadra will be in heaven. Due to this, its effect will not be on the Earth.
Auspicious time for worship of four prahars on Sawan Shivratri
Nishit Kaal - from 12:26 am to 01:09 am.
Worship of the first prahar - from 07:27 pm to 10:07 pm.
Second Prahar puja – from 10:06 pm to 12:46 pm.
Worship of the third Prahar – from 12:46 in the night to 3:38 in the morning.
Fourth Prahar Puja – 24th July from 3.27 am to 06.07 am.

According to the Panchang, the Parana of Sawan Shivratri fast will start at 05.27 am on July 24.
