New Delhi: COVID-19 cases in India have risen to an active count of 2,710 as of May 30, 2025, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Kerala tops the state tally with 1,147 active cases, followed by Maharashtra (424), Delhi (294), and Gujarat (223). Maharashtra has reported 84 new cases this year, totalling 681 cases, with an active count of 467.
Kerala added 227 new infections, while West Bengal recorded 59 new cases, increasing its total to 116, and Delhi confirmed 56 new cases, raising its active count to 294. Rajasthan reported 54 new cases alongside one death attributed to pre-existing comorbidities, notably tuberculosis. The Health Minister stated that the circulating variant resembles the common flu, noting that one child with the Omicron variant is hospitalized but not seriously ill, emphasising there is no major spread currently, though ongoing precautions are suggested.

In Karnataka, a 63-year-old man who tested positive for COVID-19 died, raising the state's death toll to three. He was admitted to a Mysuru hospital on May 15 and passed away on May 25 due to septic shock, multiple organ dysfunction, acute kidney injury, COVID pneumonia, and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav, chief of Health and AYUSH, mentioned that the Centre is carefully monitoring the rising cases and is ready to handle any developments.
The Central Health Department and AYUSH Ministry are actively monitoring the Covid-19 situation across states, with updates from Health and AYUSH Secretaries and related ministers. In Mizoram, two new Covid-19 cases have emerged after a seven-month hiatus, with patients currently being treated at Zoram Medical College and Hospital. The state's last case was reported in October 2024, affecting 73 individuals.
Maharashtra reported 84 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, totaling 681 for the year. The public health department noted that most cases are mild and urged calm among the populace. The latest breakdown reveals cases from Mumbai (32), Thane district (2), Thane Municipal Corporation (14), and other districts like Raigad, Nashik, and Pune.
In Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reassured residents about the state's small number of Covid cases, stating that there is no reason for alarm. The state currently has 727 active cases, mainly concentrated in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. The Omicron JN variant LF7, which has been previously identified in Southeast Asia, is present in Kerala.
Chandigarh health officials have reported that two children of a 40-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, who died due to Covid-19 complications, tested positive. However, the children remain asymptomatic and are under quarantine as a precaution.
Presently, Maharashtra has 425 active Covid patients, with 165 individuals having recovered successfully.
