Alot (Madhya Pradesh): Rampant misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes has come to light in Alot, leading to a major administrative crackdown. A joint team from the Revenue and Food Departments carried out surprise raids at several business establishments on Monday.
During the raids, several commercial outlets were found using domestic LPG cylinders illegally. Fines were imposed and cylinders were seized from various businesses.
The largest action was taken at Nagulal Pushkar Kachori Centre, where four domestic cylinders were seized and a fine of ₹10,508 was imposed. Fayaz, a resident of Ajmeri Colony, was caught supplying cylinders via a private vehicle.

Two domestic cylinders were confiscated from a famous tea centre in Sanjay Chowk operated by Jabbar Beg with a fine of ₹4,934. One cylinder was seized and a fine of Rs 2,668 was levied at Nana Tea Stall run by Vishal Soni.
Similarly, Ganesh Bhojanalay, operated by Ravi, was fined ₹2,650 and Deepak Porwal of Food Zone faced a penalty of ₹2,785 for the same violation.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of sub-divisional officer Sunil Jaiswal, with tehsildar Manish Jain and junior supply officer Kadambini Dhakate leading the on-ground actions.
Locals demanded that authorities should also investigate the role of LPG distributors in engendering the misuse.
