The huts, spread over a 46,000 square feet area, were obstructing the development. Under the guidance of PCMC Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, the action was jointly carried out by various departments including the Encroachment, Town Planning, Slum Rehabilitation, and Urban Transport teams. The operation covered a stretch 250 meters long and 16 meters wide.

Officials present included Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Joint Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, and Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, along with police officers and engineers.

Heavy machinery such as 1 Poclain, 7 JCBs, 4 dumpers, and 15 labourers were deployed for the eviction. Road widening work began immediately after the encroachments were cleared. PCMC is also working to relocate electric poles, water pipelines, and other utilities to ensure smooth progress of the project.

The road widening aims to ease traffic movement towards Bhumkar Chowk, Hinjewadi, Thergaon, and Pimpri. Once completed, it is expected to reduce congestion and improve daily commutes.
