From QpiAI To KNOT — Indian Startups Raised $80 Mn This Week

Investor interest in the Indian startup ecosystem declined for the second consecutive week in July, with the total funding plunging below the $100 Mn mark.

Twenty one startups raised $79.7 Mn during July 14 to July 19, a decline of 40% from the $132.9 Mn raised in the previous week. However, the number of startup funding deals stood at 21 this week as against 17 last week.

  • Advanced hardware and technology was the most funded startup sector this week, with six startups raising $37.6 Mn.
  • The AI sector saw four funding deals this week, with startups raising $3.8 Mn.
  • Peak XV Partners was the most active investor this week, investing $20 Mn in healthtech startup Truemeds and backing home decor marketplace Vaaree through its early stage investment arm Surge.
  • Seven seed stage startups raised $7.5 Mn this week, nearly half of the $14.7 Mn seed funds raised by seven startups last week.
Startup Fund Updates Of The Week
  • Ex-Nexus Venture Partners’ MD Sameer Brij Verma’s new VC fund Northpoint Capital Management has secured commitments of about $155 Mn from global and domestic limited partners.
  • Early stage VC firm Kettleborough launched its second fund with a target corpus of INR 80 Cr. The firm intends to invest in a range of $300K to $500K in startups across sectors like fintech, ecommerce, vertical SaaS and agentic AI-led platforms.
Startup IPO Developments This Week
  • After closing its IPO with a heavy investor interest, Smartworks became the third new-age tech company to list on the bourses this year. The company’s shares listed at a 7% premium to the IPO price.
  • Coworking solutions provider IndiQube filed its RHP, cutting the issue size by INR 150 Cr to INR 700 Cr. The IPO, which will open on July 23, will consist of a fresh issue of shares worth INR 650 Cr and an offer for sale (OFS) of INR 50 Cr.
  • After putting it in abeyance for months, SEBI approved WeWork India’s IPO, which will constitute solely an OFS.
  • Amid the ongoing new-age tech IPO boom, Snapdeal parent AceVector is reportedly preparing to file draft papers for INR 500 Cr IPO.
Other Developments Of The Week
  • B2B ecommerce major Udaan bought its competitor ShopKirana in an all-stock deal to deepen focus on profitability and bolster its presence in FMCG and hotel, restaurant, and catering (HoReCa) sectors.
  • Fintech company Infibeam Avenues closed its INR 700 Cr rights issue with an oversubscription of 1.4X. The company plans to invest in beefing up its AI offerings and build its commerce marketplace Rediff.
  • IPO-bound PayU India’s parent Prosus infused $35 Mn in the fintech company to fuel the growth of its credit business.
  • Enterprise tech major Fractal early backer Apax Partners sold about 6% stake in the startup unicorn for $170 Mn. The buyers included the likes of Trust Investment Advisors, Gaja Capital and Neo Asset Management.
  • Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek plans to invest $3 Bn to $4 Bn in the Indian startup ecosystem in the ongoing fiscal year (FY26).
  • TVS Motor will invest INR 64 Cr in pre-owned two-wheeler marketplace DriveX Mobility. Cofounded by former Formula 1 driver Narain Karthikeyan, DriveX is a subsidiary of the automotive major.
  • Gaming major Nazara Technologies is hiving off its esports subsidiary NODWIN Gaming as the latter plans to raise a fresh round of capital from existing investors to fuel business expansion.
  • AI startup GreyLabs AI is raising $10 Mn in its Series A funding round, led by Elevation Capital, sources told Inc42.
