Send Push

A woman who claims she had an addiction to Diet Coke has issued advice to others who enjoy the soft drink on a regular basis. Florrie Tyler took to social media to reveal four changes to her health she has noticed after giving up Coca-Cola's sugar-free alternative.

"Let this be your sign to quit," she began in a TikTok video, revealing she had recently kicked her eight-year habit. "I was probably having on average three bottles a day and it got to the point a few weeks ago that I was bloated - it was gross - and I thought this has to be the end," Florrie said of the latter stages of her "problem" with the drink.

Since that day, the changes she has noticed have apparently been "unbelievable". It's worth remembering that this is simply one experience with the fizzy drink, but there were people who could relate to the short clip. So here are the four changes Florrie shared...

1. Feeling full

Florrie explained that previously she would drink Diet Coke after a meal and whilst it left her feeling "unbelievably full", she would still be "dissatisfied in the mouth and in need of something else".

She elaborated: "I can happily say that now after a meal I feel full and satisfied and I can get on with my day without thinking about it."

2. Sweet cravings

Florrie went on to reveal that previously she experienced "intensely sweet cravings" she believes were a direct result of her Diet Coke consumption.

"They have completely gone away - all of my cravings now are for fruit," she said.

3. Water intake

The biggest change she has noticed according to Florrie is that now water "actually tastes good" when she is thirsty.

"I'm now quenching my thirst with water," she continued. "I hadn't wanted to do that in years."

4. Inflammation

Florrie closed by alleging that you "don't understand how inflamed your body is" until you stop drinking fizzy drinks.

"It's been 10 days and I can see such a difference," she exclaimed, noting in particular that her eyes are no longer puffy.

Writing in response, one TikTok user said they'd followed the same path, revealing: "I did the same, my tips would be buy a 1.2l Stanley bottle with a straw (or similar (basic I know) and sparkling water is a huge help, especially when out."

A second person confessed: "I can see how that happens. I don't drink it regularly but anytime I do drink it, I cant stop. if that's a two litre bottle, I'll keep going till its finished. Think I'll take your advice."

A third pondered: "I hadn’t even considered I was addicted to artificial sweeteners."

However, a fourth TikTok user pointed out: "The issue is quantity, its perfectly fine to have one a day or every other day but addictions take over."

Coca Cola has been invited to respond.
