A medical expert has warned of lesser-known symptoms of diabetes that may only become noticeable in the bedroom. Doctor Michael Krychman, a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology, says some signs of the condition are often overlooked - and people may not link it to the common condition.
According to Dr Krychman, there are several diabetes-related indicators that become more evident in the bedroom. These symptoms, he says, can affect both men and women, but are frequently associated with other health or emotional issues.
Recent research from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), supports his findings. The study found that women with diabetes often report lower levels of sexual satisfaction, with those undergoing insulin therapy experiencing an even greater risk of complications, reports Glasgow Live.

Dryness: Fluctuating blood sugar levels and hormonal shifts affect natural lubrication. Elevated blood sugar can also cause dehydration, resulting in dryness that makes intimate contact uncomfortable or painful.
Dr Krychman explained: "Vaginal dryness is not an uncommon feature with women with diabetes and fluctuations of poorly controlled sugar. Dryness can lead to pain during intercourse and decreased overall pleasure and satisfaction."
Reduced blood circulation: Diabetes can impair circulation, resulting in diminished blood flow to intimate areas. Dr Krychman noted: "We see a noted decline in blood flow with vascular changes associated with diabetes."
Neuropathy: Diabetes may cause nerve damage and loss of sensation, diminishing sensitivity during intimate moments. Dr Krychman stated: "Diabetes and nerve damage can cause changes in overall sensual sensation with decreased pleasure and satisfaction."
