Maintaining your lawn's health and vibrant colour can involve plenty of experimentation with watering routines and various fertilisers.
But if you're looking to give your grass an additional boost without spending a fortune, there's always one natural alternative you can rely on.
Gardening experts at Suburban Lawn Sprinkler Co. suggest that Epsom salt can resolve lawn issues whilst serving as both a fertiliser and pest deterrent, providing your lawn and garden with a "healthier life". There are numerous factors behind why your lawn might not display that coveted healthy green hue.

This is primarily down to the soil being deficient in nutrients. Nitrogen plays a crucial role in grass development, and insufficient levels can result in sluggish growth and a paler green appearance.
Sunlight exposure can equally impact your lawn's colouration, reports the Express. Should your grass be flourishing in heavily shadowed spots, it's likely to display varying shades of green.
Without adequate sunlight, it will forfeit its rich green tone. Plant diseases will similarly alter the lawn's colour in localised patches. As these ailments spread and develop, the grass transforms from pale green sections to yellow and brown areas.
Garden Epsom salt is available from Amazon for £6.50 for Westland Epsom Salts, whilst a substantial 5-litre container might cost £21.99 from GroundMaster. Detailing what Epsom salt does for grass, the expert explained: "Epsom salt is an organic compound that is full of beneficial minerals for lawns. Iron in Epsom salt, for example, helps grasses to grow healthy and strong.
"Meanwhile, the magnesium in Epsom salt balances the pH level in your grasses so that it doesn't become too acidic. The sulphur component of magnesium sulphate promotes chlorophyll production.
"These minerals also aid in the absorption of nitrogen and phosphorous; two essential components of healthy grass growth. It will ultimately facilitate the lush green growth and healthy look that you're looking to see in your yard and not ugly looking grass."
The gardening experts revealed that using Epsom salt on your lawn is a "safe, natural solution" to boost seed germination, nutrient uptake, development, and the overall wellbeing of grass and plants in your garden.
For application, you can place Epsom salt in a spreader or mix it with water and use a sprayer. Apply roughly half a pound of Epsom salt per 100 square feet of grass. This must be done during autumn or spring as fertilising your lawn in summer "this will contribute to weed growth" whilst winter makes it "difficult to do much with your lawn".
Epsom salt, besides being a natural fertiliser, can also be used as an alternative to harsh pesticides. The experts advised: "If your flowerbeds are plagued by slugs, for example, just sprinkle some Epsom salt in the area to deter them and keep them at bay."
For those who'd rather buy Epsom salts in-store than online, they're available at B&M or B&Q. Most well-known garden centres will also have the product in stock.
