Ozzy Osbourne funeral sees reporter break down in tears during live TV coverage

A TV journalist broke down in tears as she spoke about Ozzy Osbourne as his hearse made its way through Birmingham today. Ozzy sadly died last week after battling a number of health issues, and just weeks on from his final ever performance at Villa Park.

The procession through Birmingham's Broad Streetis taking place today, with the cortege passing through the centre of Birmingham on its way to the Black Sabbath bridge and bench.

Tributes have been left at the Black Sabbath bridge for Ozzy following his tragic death last week. Sharon Osbourne and his family organised, in conjunction with the local council, a special procession to remember the legendary singer.

One journalist was interviewed live on Sky News by Katie Spencer where she broke down over Ozzy's death. She said: "It's closure really... We called it summer of Sabbath but we didn't even make it through the summer before he died."

She choked up, before adding: "It's tragic but I think his spirit lives on ... You can tell by the way people are joining together; that's something that can't die ... He said Birmingham forever, and that's how we feel."

The hearse firstly passed the singer's childhood home in Lodge Road, Aston before making its way to the centre of Birmingham. Flowers have been left outside the house and its current owners also put up a picture of Ozzy in the front bay window.

Alongside the hearse was six Mercedes funeral cars, which were accompanied by police on motorbikes and a police car as fans watched on and paid their own personal tributes to the late rocker.

The council announced yesterday that the special procession would take place and had said that it would be funded by Sharon and the rest of the family, who have paid for the security and other costs.

Fans have lined the streets of Birmingham to pay tribute to Ozzy, who died last week. A statement at the time read: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Ozzy had one last wish to return to the UK, something which Sharon had managed to orchestrate. Megadeath founding member David Ellefson - who performed at the final gig - explained: "It really felt like this was the celebration of life before this inevitable day that happened right? Because Ozzy knew it, right? We've seen the videos online. He knew his days were numbered.

"And God bless Sharon for just keeping it going and giving him something to look forward to. The fact that he got to say goodbye, the fact that we all got to say goodbye to him. In my opinion, not trying to be morbid. I'm being celebratory here. We got to have the celebration of life before he passed. I mean, what a beautiful thing.

"And I was just thinking, God bless Sharon and all those people that did this because for the world to get to say goodbye to Ozzy. Because we knew this day was coming. This isn't as shocking as it is - we knew it was coming."
