Chelsea may have stumbled across the ideal opportunity to strike a player swap deal for one of their top targets, whilst also offloading a fringe player or two. The Blues are pushing to sign Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and negotiations are ongoing over a deal for the defender.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea are already making progress in talks and Hato is prepared to agree on personal terms with Enzo Maresca's side. The report also states that the Blues and Ajax have 'great relations' which could allow for negotiations to involve other players heading to the Netherlands as part of the deal. But who could Chelsea offer the Eredivisie outfit? Express Sport takes a look...
Armando BrojaAjax have already shown an interest in acquiring the services of Broja this summer, and the forward therefore is the most logical makeweight in negotiations for Hato. The 23-year-old has struggled with injuries during his last two loan spells away from the Blues, and a change of surroundings may be exactly what he needs to ensure that his career is not derailed any further by issues.
Despite the success of his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea are open to selling Chukwuemeka. The midfielder has shown immense promise over the past few years and could be a talent which Ajax would love the chance to embed into their side, but they may have to raise the possibility sooner rather than later given that RB Leipzig are particularly keen.
Raheem SterlingA move abroad beckons for Sterling if the 30-year-old is to continue playing in European competitions. Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with Sterling recently, but the chance to be the star at a historic club like Ajax could also prove to be an enticing opportunity - as long as the Dutch giants are willing to match his wage demands. Valued at £20million, he would also bring Hato's asking price down markedly in the eyes of Chelsea.
Lesley UgochukwuUgochukwu was one of only a few to emerge with credit from Southampton's dismal campaign last season, but his future lies away from Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are stacked with midfield talent and can afford to offload the midfielder without truly realising - and aged 21, his value would certainly take a chunk off of Hato's price.
