Mould can be a big concern for households in the colder months, and preventing condensation from gathering on the windows is one way to ensure spores do not begin to grow. A good dehumidifier is a great way to keep rooms free of excess moisture, and there's one that is well reviewed on Dunelm and currently on sale.
The Black and Decker two-in-one Dehumidifier is currently 20% off, down from £99 to £79.20, reports the Mirror. According to the brand, the gadget "effectively eliminates damp, removes excess moisture in the air and prevents mould forming". Its 3.2L water tank is said to extract up to 450ml of moisture daily, and is easy to empty.
It also has a user-friendly touch panel, and users can switch through three operating modes: sleep, strong, and automatic. The appliance also automatically shuts off when the tank is full, which means there's no risk of overflowing.
The dehumidifier simultaneously serves as an air purifier, with a HEPA 11 filter that claims to help remove fine particles and allergens from the air.
The dehumidifier is a hit with shoppers online, getting over 800 positive reviews across Dunelm and other retailers like Amazon.
One reviewer, who lives in a large, cold Victorian house, said they "started it up as soon as we got it and by the time we went to bed (about five hours) there was a good 500 ml in the tank and for the first time since the weather got colder our bedroom windows were not running with water when we got up. An added bonus was the temp in our room had gone up by three degrees."
A second reviewer, who had been dealing with high humidity levels in their house, said: "I kept it running very consistently for the first couple of weeks, and I was very impressed with how quickly it brought the levels down, and the amount of water it collected was astonishing! Problem solved just like that."
"Got this for mainly drying washing quicker and it does the job really well", said another review, adding it "keeps the windows a lot drier and gives the room some heat".
A third praised the appliance's practicality, noting it's a "good size and not too noisy". They added: "[It's] easy to move around due to its size and handle. I like the changing lights, and it's surprising how much water ends up in the tank. It keeps the windows clear."
However, they also pointed out one downside: "the lead could be longer," which might be something to consider before purchasing.
