
London Fire Brigade has battled a fire just two miles from one of the UK's most popular theme parks. A spokesperson for the LFB told The Express that firefighters were tackling a fire on Jubilee Way in Chessington. They added: "Please avoid the area while the incident is ongoing. Control Officers took the first of 54 calls at 1654 and mobilised crews from Kingston, Wimbledon, Surbiton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known."
The fire brigade said in an update on its website: "Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are tackling a fire on Jubilee Way in Chessington. Most of a single storey sports pavilion is alight. Please avoid the area while the incident is ongoing. Control Officers took the first of 54 calls at 1654 and mobilised crews from Kingston, Wimbledon, Surbiton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known."
