Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson face snub as they could be banned from 2 royal events

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are likely to be banned from two royal events as a result of the duchess' latest scandal, a royal expert has said. While Prince Andrew, 65, has been caught up in various scandals over the last few years, with the Duke of York no longer having a royal role, his ex-wife has now found herself in the same position.

Just days ago, it was revealed that Sarah, the Duchess of York, had emailed the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein in 2011 - after he was released from prison for child sex offences. In the email, Sarah apologised to Epstein - whom she called her 'supreme friend' - for disowning him in an interview.

While a spokesperson for the duchess has said that Sarah only sent the email out of fear Epstein would sue her for defamation, the duchess, 65, has still faced a PR crisis as a result, with various charities dropping her as patron.

Although the King, 76, has not addressed the scandal, many people are speculating what this means for Sarah's presence on the royal stage-along with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, whom she still lives with at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

While Andrew and Sarah are no longer working royals, they do sometimes appear at more private royal events in public, with an example being Christmas Day walkabouts, Easter Sunday services and funerals.

Just weeks ago, before this latest scandal broke, they were seen attending the Duchess of Kent's funeral, with Prince William reportedly not ecstatic about his uncle's presence and attempts to talk to him.

However, while they may have been invited to family events before, a royal expert has now exclusively told Express.co.uk that he feels like this may not be the case anymore.

Expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: "It is highly unlikely that either Andrew or Sarah will be seen at the forthcoming royal Christmas or at future royal Easter services."

Mr Fitzwilliams then said Andrew's "attempts at joviality with Prince William" at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent was "poor taste", and that their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will no doubt be upset about the situation their parents are in, especially if they are no longer allowed at family events.

He said: "Beatrice and Eugenie will find their parents' predicament devastating."

Sarah Ferguson has not been seen publicly since Monday.
