A seaside town once considered "shabby" is now being named one of the best in the UK. Folkestone, with its breathtaking coastline, lively community, and rich history, was named one of the best places to live by The Sunday Times.

Tucked away on the English Channel in Kent, this harbour town features quaint cobbled streets, shopping delights and an impressive array of modern art, appealing to all generations. The Sunday Times lauded Folkestone as a "once shabby old seaside resort" that now "feels like a younger, fresher and cheaper version of Brighton". It also holds the esteemed title of the best place to live in the southeast.

The newspaper underscored how Folkestone's culture-driven revival isn't just about the artists' studios, trendy shops, or the opportunity to enjoy cocktails on the refurbished Harbour Arm. It also boasts top-tier schools, cutting-edge sports facilities, and high-speed trains to London.

Once a chic coastal resort during the 19th and mid-20th centuries, Folkestone is nestled between two cliffs on the southern edge of the North Downs.
