Current weather maps show several UK cities being hit with snow within a 66-hour window. The UK has been experiencing much colder weather in the past couple of weeks, and the Met Office has predicted that we will have a cold and harsh winter after the blistering hot summer of heatwaves that we experienced. November has been mild for some parts of the country so far, but things might take a turn as we see the first bit of snow this winter.
Weather maps show several cities being hit with snow, with some experiencing rather high levels of it. Cities in Scotland and the north of England will be greatly affected, according to the latest predictions. However, snow will also reach parts of Wales and even as far south as Birmingham. Meanwhile, more southern cities such as London and Bristol appear to escape the upcoming snow set to hit the UK.
The cities that will be hit with snow between the evening of November 13 and November 16 are:
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Inverness
- Aberdeen
- Wick
- Perth
- Dundee
- Belfast
- Newcastle
- Sunderland
- Carlisle
- Durham
- Lancaster
- Blackpool
- Preston
- Manchester
- Liverpool
- Chester
- Bangor
- St Asaph
- Wrexham
- Sheffield
- Nottingham
- Derby
According to the Met Office, the period between November 11 and November 20 will start off changeable and mild, with rain moving across parts of the UK.
The forecast reads: "Locally strong winds may also accompany the rain at times. Some drier spells are also likely, the best of these probably towards the east and possibly the north. Where skies are clear and winds light overnight, frost and fog are likely, the fog slow to clear.
"From around the middle of the month, we may see a transition towards more generally drier weather across the UK, and with this it is likely to turn a little cooler overall, with a greater risk of overnight frost."
