IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians Road to Playoffs

Send Push
The Mumbai Indians (MI) have once again showcased their resilience, securing a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. Spearheaded by the indomitable Suryakumar Yadav and bolstered by a formidable bowling lineup, MI's campaign has been a blend of brilliance and challenges.

Suryakumar Yadav has been the linchpin of MI's batting, amassing an impressive 640 runs this season. In doing so, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record of 618 runs in a single season for MI, set in 2010. His consistency and flair have been pivotal in anchoring the team's batting efforts.

Trent Boult has led the bowling attack with 19 wickets, providing crucial breakthroughs in the powerplay overs. Complementing him, Jasprit Bumrah , despite missing the initial matches, made a significant impact upon his return, claiming 17 wickets in just 10 games. Their combined efforts have been instrumental in restricting opposition totals.

As MI prepares for the Eliminator, they face the setback of missing three key overseas players:

Will Jacks: Contributed 233 runs and took 6 wickets, offering balance as an all-rounder.

Ryan Rickelton: The opener was MI's second-highest run-scorer with 388 runs.

Corbin Bosch: Provided depth in both batting and bowling departments.

All three have departed for national duties, leaving gaps in the lineup that MI will need to address strategically.

MI concluded the league stage with 8 wins and 6 losses, accumulating 16 points. However, a 7-wicket defeat to Punjab Kings in their final league match denied them a top-two finish, placing them fourth on the table.

MI is set to face the Gujarat Titans in the Eliminator on May 30 at the Mullanpur Stadium, Chandigarh. Historically, MI has found it challenging to clinch the title when finishing outside the top two, but the team's depth and experience could turn the tide in their favour.
