Tottenham Hotspur lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy after a shocking 1-0 win against Manchester United ; thus, ending a 17-year trophy drought. Spurs have not achieved a major silverware since 2008, which was marked by their win against Manchester United. This also fulfilled manager Ange Postecoglou 's bold prediction of a second-season success.

Postecoglou became the first Australian club manager to win a European trophy. To acknowledge the achievement, Mohamed Salah took to social media, through which he hinted at Postecoglou's earlier promise, branding it as the highlight of his triumph.
Postecoglou delivers on his second-season promise Brennan Johnson 's scruffy goal in the 42nd minute of the match was all Spurs needed to defeat Manchester United and clinch European glory during the showpiece clash at the San Mames stadium in Bilbao. Spurs forward Johnson bagged the club's opener after the ball fell into the goal off Shaw, and the Spurs held on to their lead till the final whistle.

For Postecoglou, it indeed was one for the books, considering he confidently proclaimed earlier in the season, "I usually win things in my second season." This statement, especially with the backdrop of Spurs' erratic form in the Premier League, raised eyebrows. The Australian tactician, however, has continued his remarkable record of having won trophies in his second seasons with South Melbourne, Brisbane Roar, the Australian national team, Yokohama F. Marinos, and Celtic.

Salah acknowledges Postecoglou's fulfilled predictionMohammad Salah, a forward for Liverpool, wasted no time posting on X after the match, celebrating with "He did say he'd win in his second season. Congratulations!" acknowledging Tottenham Hotspur's manager.

Salah's post seems to hint that he took some delight in Manchester United's defeat while appreciating Postecoglou for fulfilling his promises. It only took a moment for fans from both clubs to share Liverpool and Tottenham.
Historic achievement for SpursThis victory in the Europa League marks the third time Spurs have won the UEFA Cup/Europa League. It also gives them a European trophy for the first time in decades, since 1984. In terms of domestic competition struggles, this win includes an automatic slot for the upcoming UEFA Champions League.

Speaking of what their goal means to them, scorer Brenan Johnson was quoted as saying, "I'm so happy right now, this is what it's all about," conveying how important a trophy is for the club after they had won their last one 16 years ago.

Regardless of all the statements made regarding an alternate future for him, Postecoglou has shown that he means business, utilizing the club narrative for criticism and portraying himself as a manager who will always be seen as successful, no matter where he is when he delivers trophies.
