Apple is said to host its iPhone launch event in September later this year. According to rumours, the series may consist of four models – iPhone 17 , iPhone 17 Pro , iPhone 17 Pro Max and an all-new slim model – iPhone 17 Air which is said to replace the Plus variant. The 2025 iPhone lineup is likely to come powered by Apple’s own A19 series chipset and will run on the latest iOS 26 operating system. According to reports, Apple may bring some key display changes across all models. A new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo claims Apple is planning thinner bezels, a redesigned Dynamic Island, and ProMotion support for all models in the lineup. Here’s a look at major display changes that are expected with iPhone 17 series
Thinner bezels for all iPhone 17 models
Until now, Apple has only offered ultra-thin bezels on the Pro models. But this year, all four expected models—including the regular iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air—may get slimmer borders around the display. This would mark a shift from the iPhone 16 series, where only the Pro and Pro Max had reduced bezels.
The standard iPhone 17 is also said to adopt a 6.3-inch display size, the same as last year’s iPhone 16 Pro. This change may make it easier for Apple to offer thinner bezels on all models.
Dynamic Island could be redesigned
The leak also mentions changes to the Dynamic Island, which may appear across all iPhone 17 models. While exact details are not confirmed, the mention of “UI” suggests Apple may tweak the look or function of the software rather than making a major hardware change. Earlier reports had hinted at a smaller Dynamic Island on the Pro Max model, possibly as Apple moves towards under-display Face ID in the future.
ProMotion support for all models
Currently, Apple only includes 120Hz ProMotion displays on its Pro iPhones. That may change with the iPhone 17 series. All four models are expected to feature LTPO OLED panels, which allow for smoother scrolling and better battery efficiency. These displays could also support always-on functionality, although it’s unclear if Apple will bring that to non-Pro models.
