Send Push
OnePlus unveiled its Nord CE 5 smartphone in India today. Coming with a starting price of Rs 24,999, the smartphone is positioned as a mid-range device for everyday reliability. The handset boasts a massive 7,000mAh battery and runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset. We've had the chance to use the OnePlus Nord CE 5 for a few days, and here is our first impression.

Design and Display

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 has three colour variants – Black Infinity, Marble Mist and Nexus Blue. We received the Blue one for review and it stays true to the minimalistic design philosophy. The vertically-aligned camera module is placed on the top-left corner of the phone so that it does not interfere during horizontal usage, gaming and video playback. The LED flashlight is placed outside the module.

The edges of the handset are curved, giving a relatively secure hand-grip. Weighing 199 grams, the phone does feel bulky, but you get used to it over time. The OnePlus Nord CE5 is IP65 rated which means it is protected against splashes in everyday scenarios.

On the display front, the smartphone comes equipped with a 6.77-inch 120Hz Super Fluid OLED display. The phone's screen has support for both Gaming HDR and Ultra HDR. During our initial usage, we found the display performance quite impressive, delivering a relatively immersive visual experience across entertainment and gameplay. Colour reproduction is decent. Viewing angles are fine too. More about the display in our detailed review.

Hardware and Software

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 comes powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex processor and runs on the latest generation of OxygenOS. The handset is offered in three different variants – 6GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB. The software is fluid and comes equipped with upgraded OnePlus AI. Though there is no Plus Key on the Nord CE 5, it boasts features like AI Search, AI Voice Transcribe and others that come handy in everyday use.

One of the major highlights of the Nord CE 5 is the battery capacity. The device houses a 7,100mAh battery and is equipped with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. The company claims that the handset can last up to 2.5 days on a single charge. We will give the exact review of the phone's battery performance in the upcoming review, but for now it is safe to say that it does offer long hours of power.

Camera

On the imaging front, the Nord CE 5 is equipped with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera which supports Live Photos in Ultra HDR and up to 4K 60fps HDR video recording. It is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Pictures clicked using the phone turned out to be satisfactory with near-to-life colours and enough detail. Though the image quality slightly drops for low-light photography. Find more about the camera performance in our detailed review soon.
