Chennai: DMK principal secretary K N Nehru has alleged that there are ‘plans to commit fraud in the electoral rolls of TN just like the way it was done in Bihar.'
In a statement on Wednesday, Nehru said that there could be attempts to remove voters from the electoral roll in the state and add names of ‘outsiders.' "TN will unite and fight against such attempts,'' he said.
"In Bihar, nearly 80,000 Muslim voters were removed from a single constituency, while 65 lakh names were removed across the state. Another 3.7 lakh were later deleted, disproportionately targeting minorities and marginalized groups," Nehru said. He warned that a similar attempt to "steal TN's mandate" under the guise of SIR would be firmly resisted.
