NEW DELHI: US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor , along with deputy secretary for Management and Resources Michael J Rigas, will visit India from October 9 to October 14, officials confirmed.
During the visit, they will meet Indian government counterparts to discuss a broad range of bilateral issues and explore avenues to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
According to the release issued by US Embassy and Consulates in India, the country has reiterated its commitment in promoting a safer, stronger and more prosperous Indo-Pacific region .
Gor, President Donald Trump ’s nominee for US Ambassador to India, had earlier described India as “a strategic partner whose trajectory will shape the region and beyond” during his Senate confirmation hearing.
He also highlighted the personal rapport between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi , calling it “something unique,” observing that the US President has consistently complimented PM Modi even while expressing displeasure with India’s policies.
At 38, Gor’s journey to diplomacy is marked by a remarkable rise through American politics. Born Sergey Gorokhovsky in Tashkent, then part of the Soviet Union, he moved with his family to Malta and later to Los Angeles, where he embraced conservative politics.
He founded the Young America’s Foundation chapter at George Washington University and served in key roles on Capitol Hill, including as spokesman and deputy chief of staff for Senator Rand Paul.
Gor later joined Trump’s political orbit, serving as chief of staff for the Trump Victory Finance Committee and senior advisor to MAGA Inc.
In 2025, he became Director of the Presidential Personnel Office, overseeing appointments across the administration. His nomination as US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs marks a major diplomatic role at a time when US-India ties navigate complex geopolitical and trade challenges.
