US President Donald Trump on Friday confirmed that the United States will host next year’s Group of 20 summit at his golf club in southern Florida.
“Well, I think everybody wants it there,” Trump told reporters when asked if the global summit would be held at his Trump National Doral resort.
He said organisers had requested the event take place at his personal club.
Trump had previously announced that the gathering would be in the city of Miami, but on Friday specified that it will be held at the Doral property, a golf club and spa located near the city.
In his first term, Trump also attempted to host a separate global summit at the same venue, but backed down after criticism from within his own party about the propriety of holding it at his resort.
